Got to go snowmobiling after work today, gonna go again tomorrow. I rode this sled most of the night. The other was a 96 Polaris Vmax 500. I prefer the old Ski-doo mostly because I’m still super uncomfortable driving a snowmobile. I’ve spent maybe 1 hour driving a snowmobile before tonight so it’s still a new concept for me. Being on a longer slower sled with a big windshield was comforting.
The sleds both belong to my father in law and this year he told me and my brother in law that we can use them when ever because he doesn’t use them anymore. So I plan to get lots of seat time this winter.

Just send it.
Also, always snowmobile with a buddy, always have a plan for where you'll be at what time, and let people know your route. Safety first.

Growing up, there’d be more sleds parked outside of the bars in the winter than cars. They’re fun, I haven’t been on one in quite some time, now.

I did send it over a snow bank on the Polaris. I landed wrong and hit my thigh on the throttle. I was told specifically not to stand up, but did I listen? No. But ended up back in the seat and didn’t fly off.
Also that is a very valid suggestion. I also plan on keeping on it slow on trails. Snowmobiles don’t turn very well, or at least I haven’t figured out how to make them

Leaning helps a bunch, with a bit of throttle. I'd recommend a course. The one I took was eight hours and super helpful.

I grew up in Maine and that’s how it was. I remember snowmobiling to town with my brother and the gas station would just be packed with kids and their sleds. He got his first sled long before he had a car.
I’ve always talked about getting my own sled and then not fallowed through on it. My father in law did buy a new ice fishing sled to replace the Ski-doo. Maybe I’ll just buy it from him.

Yeah I’ve noticed it’s a bit like a jet ski where you turn with throttle. Which is scary at first. I’m getting the hang of it, but I still have a lot of learning to do.

I support this variety of couch riding.
Don’t buy until you know what you are getting. Nothing sucks worse than staring at an outdated sled that will never work as well as you want and you have no idea why it isn’t currently working. This things tend to, as the popular saying sprung from, snowball.
FIL might be talking you eager young men into thinking you are the ones taking advantage of his generosity. ;)

The Tundra is awesome in deep snow. I’ve been trying to find a used one for sale for years. Everybody hangs on to them forever.
I will buy a Yamaha four stroke to replace this gas hog at some point.
